Google Gemini now takes notes and transcribes all kinds of meetings

Google has expanded the capabilities of its AI assistant Gemini: in addition to recording conversations in Google Meet, it now automatically generates summaries and transcripts for in‑person calls, as well as Zoom and Microsoft Teams meetings. This is convenient even for spontaneous gatherings—there’s no need to prepare a plan or find a conference room ahead of time.

How to enable the feature

Open the main Google Meet window (in the mobile app or via browser) and select “take notes for me.” The application in which the meeting takes place doesn’t matter: Gemini will work with Meet, Zoom, Teams, and regular video calls.

What Gemini does after a meeting

After the meeting ends, the assistant creates a summary and a task list. This data is automatically saved to a Google Document that appears in the Google Drive of the user who initiated the recording.

Limitation for in‑person meetings

The only limitation: if someone joins the meeting who was not originally invited, you can switch it to a regular video call. In all other cases the feature works without changes.
