Mercedes‑Benz launches a new electric sports car – the AMD GT

New electric motors and batteries continue to attract the attention of automakers for performance models, and Mercedes‑Benz is no exception. The new electric sports car AMD GT combines the aerodynamics of the EQXX concept, ultra‑thin traction motors, and a unique battery cooling system.

Traction System
* Three YASA electric motors – used for the first time in the AMG GT.

* Power: up to 1,153 hp.

* Acceleration to 100 km/h: “a couple of seconds” (exact time not disclosed).

* Disk form factor ~89 mm – lightens the vehicle and frees space for layout.

* Acceleration to 200 km/h in 6.4 s, top speed 300 km/h.

Traction Battery
* Cells with a diameter just over 25 mm – quickly dissipate heat.

* The cooling system can remove up to 20 kW of heat, which is four times more than the standard EQS battery.

* Uses liquid cooling based on dielectric oil in which all batteries are immersed.

Architecture and Charging
* 800‑volt platform with NMCA batteries + silicon anode → energy density up to 298 kWh/kg.

* Ability to switch voltage from 800→400 V for compatibility with standard infrastructure.

* Supports five charging connectors, including NACS.

* With a 600 kW fast charge, you can restore 10 % to 80 % state of charge in 11 minutes.

Sound Simulation and Interface
* Mercedes‑Benz gathered over 1,600 sound files to reproduce the feeling of an AMG GT R engine running.

* Includes engine sounds, door signals, and charging indicators.

* Steering wheel switches emulate manual gear changes with corresponding audio accompaniment.

* Onboard electronics are managed by an AMD Race Engineer Core computer running MB.OS.

* Three displays (similar to Chinese electric cars) show entertainment content and parameters interesting to racers.
