New Project from NetherRealm Studios: Injustice 3?

Last summer, Warner Bros. announced the end of support for the fighting game *Mortal Kombat 1* and the studio’s shift to a new project. This information surfaced in the résumé of a Warner Bros Games employee who inadvertently revealed details about their portfolio.

What is known from the résumé
- Two unannounced projects: the employee claims to be working on two games that are officially confirmed as sequels to *Hogwarts Legacy* and *Injustice 3*.

- Link to Injustice: this is the superhero fighting franchise of WB Games and NetherRealm. In 2022, co‑author of *Mortal Kombat*, Ed Bunn, mentioned that after *MK 1* the studio might release either *Mortal Kombat 12* or *Injustice 3*.

Confirmation from insiders
- MultiverSusie – a well‑known reviewer of the platform fighter *MultiVersus* – explicitly hinted last spring that NetherRealm is working on *Injustice 3*.

- In an alternate DC universe where Superman becomes a tyrant and establishes a new world order, Batman gathers resistance from superheroes and former villains. This storyline was already present in *Injustice 2*.

How the previous game performed
- *Injustice 2* released in May 2017 for PS4 and Xbox One, and later that fall it appeared on PC.

- The game received scores of 86–89 % on Metacritic (excluding the mobile version) and sold over 1.5 million copies within its first three months.

Thus, while there is no official confirmation yet, numerous indirect sources point to NetherRealm preparing a new *Injustice* sequel. It is expected that the game will continue to develop the alternate DC universe and offer players new fighting mechanics.
