Large Investments and Anthropic’s Market‑Cap Growth

The rapid rise in the valuation of leading AI startups such as OpenAI and Anthropic creates a sense that investors with “briefcases full of money” are waiting for an opportunity to put their capital into this risky sector. However, for Anthropic a key signal has been recent deals with AWS and SpaceX, which open the door to a company valuation of about $1 trillion.

Capital‑Raising Plans

According to sources at the Financial Times, Anthropic intends to raise another several dozen billions of dollars in the summer. This should happen before an IPO in the fall, when the company will open its capital to retail investors. In the latest round of private financing, interested parties include funds such as Dragoneer, General Catalyst and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Investors predict that Anthropic’s annual revenue will exceed $45 million, increasing fivefold compared with year‑end levels last year. This confirms expectations of strong business growth.

Expanding Computing Power

The startup’s efforts to scale its infrastructure are encouraging: it recently leased the Colossus 1 supercomputer from competitor SpaceX (xAI) and entered a long‑term agreement with Amazon Web Services. Over the past two months Anthropic has also signed contracts with Google and Broadcom.

These steps demonstrate that the company can continue to grow revenue quickly, as new capacity allows it to handle more requests and develop more sophisticated AI models.

Path to $1 Trillion

In the next couple of months Anthropic could raise another $50 billion. With a preliminary valuation of $900 billion this would lift its market cap close to $1 trillion. After demonstrating success in expanding computing, raising such funds will be noticeably easier.

In March OpenAI’s valuation was $852 billion, so Anthropic’s rapid growth will energize competitors. The capital raised will allow the startup to accelerate infrastructure development. As OpenAI president Greg Brockman said at the beginning of the week, the company plans to invest $50 million in expanding its computing capacity this year.
