Apple has run out of stock even for the most basic Mac mini models powered by an M4 chip with 16 GB of RAM.

Apple has sold out the base model of the Mac mini

According to the latest data, Apple’s online store no longer has any available stock of the standard version of the Mac mini computer. The product page now displays “currently unavailable.”

What is missing
- The base variant – M4 processor + 16 GB RAM + 256 GB SSD.

- Models with larger storage (512 GB and above) are still available for purchase.

- Versions with the M4 Pro chip are on sale.

- 24 GB of memory is available, but 32 GB is no longer sold.

Why it matters
The Mac mini is popular among those running local AI models. Therefore the shortage more likely reflects high demand than anticipation of a new generation of devices.

Apple is facing a global shortage of memory chips driven by growing interest in AI technologies. This has led to:

- higher prices for RAM;

- temporary unavailability of certain Mac mini and Mac Studio configurations in retail;

- discontinuation of the Mac Studio with 512 GB of RAM earlier this year.

What’s next
Apple plans to release updated Mac mini models based on the M5 and M5 Pro chips. However, due to memory constraints, the new models may only appear closer to the end of the year.
