Elon Musk has once again announced the start of production for the autonomous Tesla Cybercab taxi.

In February this year the first Tesla Cybercab model appeared on the assembly line – a two‑seat “robotaxi” without a steering wheel or pedals. However, Elon Musk announced the start of its large‑scale production only on Friday, after the company’s quarterly report was published.

What will change in Tesla’s fleet
- Cybercab will gradually replace Model Y crossovers that are currently used as robotaxis.
- Within Tesla’s lineup, Cybercab will become the “dominant” vehicle.

Financial expectations
- Musk predicts that revenue from robotaxis will only appear in 2027.
- This year mass production of Cybercab is “unlikely” to be realized.

Availability and options for owners
- Formally, Cybercab is the most affordable model in Tesla’s lineup, but it is unclear whether it will be sold to private customers.
- Owners of other models with an onboard HW4 computer and activated FSD can turn their cars into robotaxis that earn money in spare time.

Thus, Tesla plans to expand its autonomous taxi service nationwide, but mass production and commercial profit from it will only appear several years later.
