Intel Announces New Computing Partnership with McLaren Racing

Intel has become the official provider of high‑performance computing for all racing divisions of McLaren: the Formula 1 team (McLaren Mastercard), IndyCar team Arrow McLaren, and virtual racing division McLaren F1 Sim Racing.

- Technologies – solutions based on Intel Xeon and Core Ultra processors will be used for aerodynamic analysis, vehicle dynamics modeling, and race strategy development.

- AI and Architecture – Intel engineers will develop artificial‑intelligence systems and high‑performance computing platforms.

The deal places Intel directly in competition with AMD again. Since 2020, AMD has supplied EPYC and Threadripper processors to the Mercedes‑AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team for aerodynamics and data processing.

Intel CEO Lip‑Bu Tan emphasized the company’s pride in being McLaren Racing’s computing partner, where precision, speed, and innovation are critically important. According to him, the joint efforts of Intel and McLaren will turn data into a competitive advantage at every corner of the track.

McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown confirmed that Intel equipment is already integrated into the team’s technology ecosystem. Unlike the AMD‑Mercedes partnership press release where AI was not mentioned, the new announcement highlights artificial intelligence as a key element for future races.
