Apple Forecasts Continued Shortage of Mac mini and Mac Studio

CEO Tim Cook said that the shortage of these models will persist for several more months. According to him, the “unexpectedly high demand” was driven by users of agent AI who actively use tools such as OpenClaw.

Key factors limiting production are:

- Availability of advanced process technologies – Apple underestimated the volumes needed, and scaling up takes months.
- Rising memory chip prices – this slows down production ramp‑up.

As a result, many configurations of Mac mini and Mac Studio are already sold out on Apple’s official online store. Cook emphasized that buyers quickly realized the potential of these devices as “excellent platforms for AI and agent tools,” exceeding the company’s expectations.

Not Just Desktop PCs Facing Shortage

Apple also warns of possible disruptions in supplying the MacBook Neo – a budget laptop that has become a record‑setting driver for attracting new Mac users. In addition to shortages of Apple Silicon chips, the company expects further price increases in memory, which will heighten supply chain pressure.

Ultimately, to close the gap between demand and supply, Apple will need time to expand production and stabilize prices on key components.
