* Contract editing and review – the agent analyzes texts, compares them with negotiation history, and identifies potential risks.
* Structured workflows – instead of generic AI models it operates according to predefined scenarios based on real legal practice. This allows contracts to be automatically checked clause by clause in line with the company’s internal guidelines.
* Change tracking – Legal Agent works with existing documents and records all edits, simplifying collaborative contract work.

How it is implemented

Pilot project and partners
* Frontier program – participants of this initiative in the United States can already use Legal Agent. It is part of Microsoft’s broader strategy to deploy AI agents in Word.
* New talent from Robin AI – in January the company hired a group of engineers and specialists who had previously worked on an AI‑based contract review system at the bankrupt startup Robin AI. Their experience accelerated the development of Legal Agent.
