Brief history of the series
The third part of “Heroes of Might and Magic” was released more than a quarter of a century ago. Since then, no game has emerged that could compare to the legendary trilogy in terms of recognition and love from the community. The fourth game was decent but did not find its place among fans; the fifteenth part approached the greatness of “Heroes 3,” yet remained without mass support. The sixth and seventh parts are almost forgotten by fans.

Nevertheless, projects such as *Songs of Conquest*, inspired by the same classic trilogy, proved that a proven formula can be successfully updated with modest innovations. This is the approach used by the developers of Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era.

What’s new in Olden Era
Nostalgia and novelty From the first minutes of the game you feel a familiar atmosphere: sound effects, visual perspective of cities, battles, and the global map, as well as the basic gameplay loop. However, noticeable differences from the original already appear on the first in‑game day.

Law system A city or hero can generate “law provisions” – special points that can be spent on unique upgrades for each faction.

- Necropolis: enhances necromancy of heroes, daily gold influx, bonuses to creature stats.
- Law of the Field of Death: makes every skirmish more advantageous for your heroes on home ground.

Magic in two directions
1. Expedition magic – movement across the map (portals, shadow flights, dimensional doors). Opening them requires astrology points, which unlock new logistical possibilities.
2. Combat spells – require building a mage guild and purchasing spells with gems or ore. The higher the spell level, the more expensive they become, influencing city development strategy.

Buildings and their effects
- Undead Converter (Necropolis) – creatures of other factions are turned into undead of the desired rank.
- Sacrarium Rediti (Roya/Inferno) – “resets” a hero to first level with a permanent bonus to stats.

Buildings can strengthen resource influx, open new creature recruitment options, expand magical horizons, or provide faction bonuses.

Thus, Olden Era preserves the classic spirit of Heroes of Might and Magic while adding fresh mechanics and deep development strategy, allowing players to explore new paths to victory.
