Review of the new game from ZA/UM: “Zero Parades – For Dead Spies”

1. Technical Requirements
OS Minimum Recommended Windows 10 and newer • Intel Core i5‑6500 processor • 16 GB RAM • Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB VRAM) • 10 GB free hard drive space – Windows 11 • Intel Core i5‑10400 processor • 16 GB RAM • Nvidia GeForce GTX 2070 (8 GB VRAM) – The game runs only on PC.

2. Brief History of ZA/UM
- 2016 – the release of “Disco Elysium” was a triumph, but soon after the company collapsed.
- The studio turned from a creative community into a business project where money and power became the main players.
- As a result many participants left, and the company ended up in the “freezer” of history.

3. What’s New?
Zero Parades – For Dead Spies is an attempt to regain reputation after ZA/UM’s downfall.

The game is a spy RPG with elements of psychological drama and the inner monologue of the main heroine, Herschel (callsign “Cascade”).

- Main plot: Herschel, a former spy, returns to the world after five years of decline. Her partner has now “reset” – alive but unresponsive to external stimuli.
- The world has changed: familiar places have become alien and hostile.
- The player must manage Herschel’s inner voice, which helps make decisions.

4. Skill System
Type Quantity of Features Overall set 15 skills (previously 20) All skills are now merged into one internal voice – there are no separate “voices” for characters. Skill groups 3 groups Each group is linked to its own side‑effect scale:
• Fatigue
• Anxiety
• Delirium
- When interacting with the world, the player can reduce pressure on one of the scales, but usually it increases instead.
- Skills do not conflict with each other – they work synchronously.

5. Inspiration and Realism
- The creators draw ideas from real ZA/UM history: founder Robert Kurvits’s struggle with alcoholism inspired the character Herschel’s image.
- The game looks like “Disco Elysium 2”, but it does not simply repeat old mechanics.
- New details and changes make gameplay deeper and more realistic.

6. Conclusion
*Zero Parades – For Dead Spies* is an attempt by ZA/UM to regain fans’ respect, using their own history as material for creating a new RPG. The skill system and inner monologue make the game unique in the spy adventure genre, and the technical requirements allow it to be played on most modern PCs.
