Noctua unveiled a compact, powerful cooler for the AM5 with a full 120‑mm fan.

New low‑profile cooler from Noctua – a solution for the AMD AM5 socket

At the recent Computex 2026 exhibition, Noctua unveiled plans to develop a new cooler specifically optimized for the AM5 socket with a height of just 70 mm. Despite its compactness, it is designed for a full‑size NF‑A12x25 G2 fan (120 × 25 mm) and provides a wider clearance around the processor while accounting for the slight convexity of modern AMD CPUs.

What’s already in Noctua’s lineup
- Low‑profile coolers: up to 77 mm, using flat NF‑A12x15 or NF‑A9x14 fans.
- NH‑L12S: height 70 mm, but with its own low‑profile fan.

The new project involves switching to the existing AF12x25 G2 fan without exceeding the 70 mm limit, just like the NH‑L12S. This avoids the need to develop a brand‑new fan from scratch.
