OpenAI launched a subsidiary to develop corporate artificial intelligence
OpenAI launches a new company for corporate AI deployment
OpenAI announced the creation of a subsidiary that will receive an initial capital investment of more than $4 billion. The goal is to help businesses quickly and at scale integrate artificial intelligence systems.
To accelerate the launch, the company acquired consulting firm Tomoro (an OpenAI partner since 2023). As a result, about 150 AI deployment experts from Tomoro’s team were incorporated into the new venture’s structure.
What is this enterprise?
- Name: OpenAI Deployment Company
- Owners: The controlling stake remains with OpenAI itself; the remaining shares are owned by investors (TPG Advent, Bain Capital, Brookfield, and others).
- Mission: Provide clients with AI deployment engineers‑specialists and collaborate with partners to identify areas where technology can deliver the greatest benefit.
Why it matters
1. Growth in corporate contracts – after positive feedback on early models, OpenAI is actively closing deals with companies that already use its solutions in business operations.
2. Competition with Anthropic – the new player allows OpenAI to stay ahead of a competitor that also develops models for enterprise clients and has its own joint ventures with private investors.
What is known about Tomoro
- Founded in 2023 in alliance with OpenAI.
- Clients include Mattel, Red Bull, Tesco, Virgin Atlantic.
- After acquisition, the company became part of the OpenAI Deployment Company infrastructure and now participates in large‑scale ChatGPT deployment.
Thus, OpenAI strengthens its position in the corporate AI market by combining its own developments with the consulting expertise of Tomoro and backing from major investors.
