Samsung smartphones will ban apps with intrusive advertising in notifications
Samsung launches a new feature for Galaxy smartphones
The company added to the One UI firmware a setting that automatically blocks apps that “constantly” send advertising notifications. This is not an ordinary ad blocker, but a tool for recognizing and limiting such app behavior.
How the feature works
- Apps sending frequent ads are put into *deep sleep* mode (deep sleep).
- In this mode they stop bothering the user, but can be manually activated if needed.
- The list of apps in deep sleep can be viewed via: Settings → Device care → Care report → Excessive notifications.
Two levels of blocking
LevelWhat it doesBasicApps are blocked immediately once the system detects them.IntelligentAnalyzes notification content and blocks those apps that the system deems to send too much advertising.
Where the feature is available
At the time of publication, 9to5Google notes that this option has not yet appeared on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with One UI 8.0. If it is already enabled on the Galaxy S26, then other Galaxy models will likely receive it via an update to One UI 8.5, which is already rolling out.
Questions and nuances
- The resource poses the question: will the new feature block notifications from Samsung itself?
- Users can manually enable or disable deep sleep for specific apps through the mentioned settings section.
Thus, Samsung strengthens control over advertising pop-ups and makes the user experience calmer and more predictable.
